When it comes to specific training the demands and nuances of each sport must be taken into account. All sports are played with different speeds, in different positions, and use unique muscles groups that have to be maximized and balanced.

Hockey

At F2P we have great success training hockey players. We have trained top tier men’s and women’s high school athletes as well as Division 1 college athletes. Hockey is a sport of quick movements and change of direction that requires a training regimen that looks to maximize specific qualities. Skating in general won’t require as much reactive strength as running, due to the varied surface (ice) and technical demand of skating. We focus on those movements and actions that develop quicker starts, faster stops, and harder, more accurate shots. We also train for injury prevention by balancing the over use actions which often times lead to nagging and in some cases catastrophic injuries.

We have had tremendous success training goalies. The lateral movements required of a goalie are highly specialized and different from skaters. These movements require specific training that we provide at F2P. Our success in training goalies is in part to the understanding of the often-overlooked front to back movements and the force handling required for quick movements around the crease. Developing the muscles for better T pushes, shuffles, and slides requires a unique and specialized training program.

Lacrosse

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in America. Due to the rapid growth, the quality of training facilities and focus on lacrosse specific training has lagged. At F2P we have found our training to be especially effective for the change of direction and acceleration movements required of a lacrosse player. Teaching, coaching, and developing effective cutting action for lacrosse athletes are different than any other sport due to the tactical play of the sport, and thus have to be taught differently. We have developed Division 1 athletes as well as top high school athletes.

Soccer

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in America at the high school level. We have found success developing soccer players for the next level by focusing on the finer details of accelerating and changing direction both with and without a ball. We also focus on injury prevention, especially in the female population in regards to knees, ankles, and shins. All too often these types of injuries occur as a result from non-contact and overuse injuries, which is why F2P puts such a high importance on force absorption and position of the foot and shin when contacting the ground.

Volleyball

Women’s volleyball is a highly competitive and explosive sport. The immediate nature of the sport from blocking and hitting to passing creates the need for fast and precise movements. We train athletes to improve their reactive strength, eccentric ability, and yielding strength which are critical for the explosive movements of the game. Technical development of acceleration, deceleration, in addition to proper jump mechanics will lead the athlete to greater success on the court and sand.

Tennis

Tennis is a sport that has a highly develop coaching system, but less developed training program for the actions that are required to execute skill sets. Tennis is a game of change of direction that requires an ability to decelerate for a shot and accelerate for recovery to get into position for the next shot. Rotational sequencing of groundstrokes as well as the serve will play a vital role in determining the success of an athlete. Without proper overhead striking actions the athlete will limit the power potential for their serve, as well as increase their chances of developing an overuse injury to their arm.

Football

Football is a sport of many different positions with each position requiring very different demands. In order for an athlete to achieve their maximum potential, the athlete’s program needs to be tailored to their positional and personal attributes and demands. The different types of strength and speed required for a lineman to excel is drastically different from the strength and speed a defensive back needs. With the number of athletes that F2P has developed through the years to play at the next level, we fully understand the requirements that each position requires and what personal changes individuals need to enhance to be successful for their given position(s).

Baseball

Baseball is a sport of loading and unloading movements. While working in the LA Angels system, Nick developed a number of tailored programs for different baseball positions. Training the body to load, store, and exert energy is vital for baseball performance. Yielding Strength gives the athlete the stability they need to store and transfer energy as well as creating a stable base for more efficient power production. With the need to cover short distances in multiple directions, F2P places a high importance on acceleration mechanics in all directions (how fast and efficient can your first 3 steps be). With the high amount rotation that baseball requires, F2P teaches and develops the actions needed to enhance optimal kinetic and kinematic sequencing for hitting and throwing.

Other

The sports highlighted above are a sample of sports that we train for at F2P. However, we can accommodate most athletes. Some sports we don’t know as well, but we are eager to learn and develop programs suited for whatever sport you play. At the end of the day, F2P is about movement, speed, and precision; elements critical in most sports.
